Academic freedom as human right: comparing notes in the Americas

You can watch now the first Forum CéC about the challenges to academic freedom in North America and Latin America, with the participation of Salvador Herencia-Carrasco (Director, Human Rights Clinic, Human Rights Research and Education Centre at the University of Ottawa) Catalina Arango (Coordinator, academic freedom monitoring, Scholars at Risk uOttawa), and François Charbonneau (Associate professor, School of political studies, University of Ottawa). The forum was moderated by Isaac Nahon-Serfaty (Associate professor, Department of communication, uOttawa and founder of CéC). CéC (Critical Éducation Critique) was created to overcome the implicit and explicit censorship of certain platforms covering high education news and issues. These websites tend to favour just one point of view when it comes to discussing academic freedom, and exclude or silence those views that do not correspond to their editorial biases. CéC wants to offer a platform to freely discuss issues affecting academic freedom and the quality of research and education in universities without fear and exclusion.
